Midwinter

Hello Sun
Blazing through blinked lashes
Making my eyes water and burn
How can something so bright give no warmth
The tip of my nose is frozen
My lungs rejecting the air with billowing breath
Crunching the grass in my winter boots
I take in the changing earth around me
I'm ready to shed Winter and all its heavy secrets with these sweaters and coats
I crave the dark of the year even now when I am desperate to abandon it
I breath in the cold and can taste sweet new green in the breeze
I am ready
To feel a tingling glow on my face and bask in a warm wind
For lighter days
A freer heart
More energy
To get out from behind the shadow of myself
And Live
